We have been asked to analyze a music blog post in order to prepare for Proximity’s spring focus group sessions. I have included a post from ABH News covering the release of the new Apple iPad. Apple is known for their cutting edge technology and innovation in the media industry.
What the Apple iPad provides
The Apple iPad is a whopping 9.7 inches in size, much bigger than the iPhone and iTouch, giving users the opportunity to watch movies, surf the internet, play games and listen to their favorite song on a large display. Apple’s newest product will offer up to six days of music playback with the screen turned off and ten hours with the display on. Many of the previous Apple devices were designed for people who are on the go, where the iPad is more for use around the house.
Reasons to purchase the Apple iPad
There are many reasons to purchase the iPad. Two of the main reasons are:
· Price- The iPad is priced at a very reasonable $499
· Wide variety of uses- In addition to having 50,000 TV episodes, 8,000 films (2,000 in high definition), 140,000 applications, and millions of songs to download at your command, Apple plans to release iBookstore for browsing and downloading books.
Questions for the spring focus group
In order to help the clients and users of Proximity understand the importance of Apple’s new product for the media industry today, two possible questions to be asked of the focus group could be:
· Does the integration of the capabilities offered in the iPad outweigh the existing individual devices you already may have (mp3 player and computer)?
· Does the size and the performance of the iPad provide enough value for the consumer?
